I have been practicing mindfulness in my time of despair as I heal. Through this practice, I have become somewhat of a lucid dreamer. However, I can’t say that this is a regular occurrence, especially since I haven’t been getting much sleep these past few weeks.

I became lucid in my dream when something triggered me to realize that I was dreaming. I can explore my dream in a way that is not possible in waking life. I see things. I get answers to my questions. Most of all, I get to apply my newfound knowledge to my own personal growth. For what seemed to be a bit puzzling and honestly, a bit scary, I felt something.

The Awakening

I woke up from an unplanned nap one afternoon, my laptop still on my lap, my notes unsaved, and my phone ringing beside me. I knew right then I had to get back on my laptop and jot my thoughts down. I ignored the phone. It was probably “Karen” again trying to sell me life insurance. Or it could have been “Mike” from AARP offering me a discount to join. Thanks, Mike for the constant reminder that I’ll be 50 soon. I immediately logged back online to document the vivid dream that I had just woke from.
